Where has the time gone?

I write a blog and I think, "I will not wait so long before I write my next one."  But, before I know it the time has flown and I haven't wrote one.  So here I am several months later trying to catch up on what we have been doing since my last one.

We left Texas and stopped in Arkansas.  Went to the "Crater of Diamonds State Park".  Didn't find any diamonds, not even a tiny one.  But we had a nice day.

Ed sat in one place and sifted through
the dirt

I walked around looking for something to shine but never
found any.

We were ready to go, we stayed about 5 hours.

Than we headed to Tennessee to meet up with the kids for a 10 day stay.  Stayed at Natchez Trace a Thousand Trails Park.  The kids stayed in one of the cabins.  We had a great time and even got to experience a flash flood.

The kids cabin

When we were ready to leave we parked on the beach for the night.
That was the beach next to us which was flooded.

At the end of this path was a dock.

Hey Tracy look out for that tree!

Crossing the creek.  It was fun driving thru the water.
Two of our beautiful granddaughters
Our next stop was Bristol, Indiana.  Our son's in-laws has a place for us to park the MH.  They just recently acquired some cows so we get to camp next to them.  The weather wasn't extremely hot so the smell didn't seem to be too bad.   Ed had his cataract surgery and everything went well.  He can see again which is very important when driving the motor home.  Haha, just kidding, but he did have some trouble reading signs.

Our camping spot next to the cows.

Just had to show this.  Ed was sharing his chip dip with
Calypso.  He told her to dip her chip and she stuck
her whole hand down in the dip.  Not one of his better ideas.
So here we are at the Sioux Falls fairgrounds.  We have a full hookup site and almost have the place to ourselves.  Plan on being here for 5 weeks, so lots of time to check out Sioux Falls.

Nice fairgrounds.  We almost have the place to ourselves but people
are starting to come in
I  had heard about Falls Park and wanted to check it out.  We were driving downtown and came across it.  What a beautiful park.

Beautiful Park and it was free.

Hard to believe this is downtown Sioux Falls

This park has a lot of Jasper rock, which is harder that granite.

This was once a 7 story mill, the power came
from the falls

You can go up in the tower and look out over the whole area.

Just having a good time
Than I heard about a balloon fest downtown.   We always thought we would go to the one in New Mexico.  This was on a smaller scale but decided to go.  They were suppose to take off at 6 am and 6 pm.  The morning one was canceled because of fog.  So we decided to go at 3 pm.  I figured it would be like a carnival, with vendors there and a lot of people.  We were there at 3 and found no one there.  We realized we should have brought chairs so we went back to rv to get them.  We went back and it was around 4 and still no one.  I couldn't believe it.  Anywhere else they would have made a festival out of it and made some money.  So we decided to go get something to eat.  Came back at 5 and finally there were people.

They had a pretty good crowd, but not overwhelming

One of the balloons laid out

Balloon being blown up.  When they blow them up they tether  them
to a trailer or a truck so they can't take off.

Most of them only had one or two people in them.  This one was
a little more crowded.  The guy on the right looks like he is
sitting on the edge.  Ed said that looked dangerous.

They brought the balloons back to the area and had a balloon glow.

I liked this one, Ed said he thought it was gaudy.

Trying to get as many balloons in the picture as I can.
They had 25 balloons.

The balloons getting ready to light up.

Balloon glow, They try to light them up all at the same time.

Plan on being in South Dakota for another 5 weeks.  So hopefully I will be back sooner than the last time.

Happy Trails.   Ed and Lyn
