There is "Gold in them thar Hills"

We have heard there is "Gold in them thar hills" and it's still there because we haven't found it.  Ed has been gold digging the last few days.  I went the first day, then I had to get some things done at home so he went out by himself.  I felt sort of guilty but after 9 days of working, I needed some down time.

We had found some GPAA (Gold Prospectors Association of America) land right behind us.  We took the Ranger back there and found some old mines.

We finally get to enjoy our Ranger

We were told this mine was dug in the 1800's

This one went straight down, I don't think anyone was going to
check it out

another hole, you would think someone was finding something

We came across a guy camping back there.  He said he had been  for about 4 days.  We asked him if he was finding anything,  He didn't seem to want to share any information so we weren't sure if he had or not.

The day I went back with Ed I walk around with the metal detector.  I found another bullet.  I am getting pretty good at finding them.  Wish I would find something worth something.

Ed dug where there were some shallow holes.    He took them down pretty deep.  He filled a couple of buckets and then brought it home to pan it out.  We like it when you dig where there is water because you can pan it out right there.

Looks like he is having fun
Ed went back two more days and he had found a new hole where there was lots of quartz.  They say when you find quartz you will find gold.  Well so far no gold.  So after 3 days he has quit, for now anyways.  Another time and another place.

He found this one little flower among all that rock

this is a Teddy Bear catus, it just jumps out
and gets ya

somebodys claim
a road to nowhere
someone had dug here, but filled with all those "teddy bears"
I don't think anyone is going to dig now

This guy drove his class C motor home all the way back
to where we went with the atv.  Nobody could believe it.
Our Ranger is out there in the distance,  this is where the
motor home is.

These are some other strange or different things we have seen here in Quartzsite.

We couldn't believe this, I guess he had to haul them someway

This guy has a show, he told us his animals do tricks

they can drive this in the cab or up on top

steps up to the driver's seat

They were trying to sell it

This was dated 1954, it was out in the midle of nowhere

They were going to restore this, it was build in Auburn, Indiana

You see a lot of motorized bikes

We come across a lot of old cars

They even had a tent revival, which I thought  was a thing of the past.

Well I have to say the time here at Quartzsite has went fast.  It's hard to believe 2 weeks ago you couldn't even find a place to park and now the streets are almost deserted.  People are slowly leaving and so will we.  It will be nice to have full hook ups again and get rid of some of this dirt.

Bye for now.   Ed and Lyn

  1. With all that work you'd think you were due a little reward in the form of a gold nugget. Quartzsite is definitely a unique place to be. Now you'll just have to find another place to ride that Ranger.
